Welcome to the Queen's Award winning Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification. At our core is the study of human anatomy and this is dependent on the relationship we maintain with those who bequeath their remains to the University for the purposes of education and research. We were the first in the UK to introduce the Thiel soft fix approach to embalming and our research has resulted in new and improved surgical procedures and the design and development of new medical technologies and surgical devices.
In forensic science we work with the police and other investigative agencies to assist with both national and international crimes, aiming to establish truth and bring perpetrators to justice. The CAHID team comprises certified experts in several forensic disciplines and has strong relationships with Police forces throughout the UK. Our staff regularly present evidence in criminal courts and many of these cases are of extremely high profile. Over 400 forensic enquiries are made to our practitioners every year from police forces across the UK and from further afield.
Please feel free to look around our website and to get in contact with us if you are interested in becoming a student with CAHID, if you wish information about the bequeathal process or any other area where you think we may be of assistance.
