Facial anthropology may facilitate the search process by providing a 2D or 3D depiction of the face of the individual that may generate names for further investigation.
Facial reconstruction can be performed by a facial anthropologist or forensic artist using photographic records, a replica and/or clinical images of the skull.
From skull the facial anthropologist should be able to provide the following information:
- Male or female?
- What is their ancestry?
- Do they show any craniofacial trauma or pathology?
In addition, the facial anthropologist or forensic artist should be able to provide:
- A depiction of the individual’s living appearance as a 2D frontal image, digital movie or 3D sculpture.
