As the anatomy technician I carry out and oversee the general maintenance and daily running of the dissection room and anatomy museum. I am responsible for the ordering of any consumables and keeping audit trails of anatomical specimens and equipment. I am involved in the transportation of cadavers and cadaveric material between CAHID and Ninewells hospital.  I work and communicate closely with both internal (admin, academic & estates staff) and external groups (funeral directors, medical & clinical professionals).
I give support to teaching and academic staff of multiple disciplines; medicine, dentistry, anatomy and forensic anthropology. I am a point of contact for students, specifically practical research projects. I also supply support for any external courses/groups that are held and run within CAHID.
I have been trained to Thiel embalm, x-ray, ultrasound and maintain/renew the potted specimen collection that is currently housed within CAHID. I have also attended plastination training which I am currently trying out within the department. Along with embalming I give support with the preparation and maintenance of the cadavers within the department.
Through previous employment as an APT (Anatomical Pathology Technologist) I have achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
I hold an honours BSc in Anatomical Sciences from the University of Dundee.
